Academy FAQ
1. What is the typical annual calendar of activity for an Academy player?
Academy soccer is a yearlong commitment split into two seasons (fall and spring), starting with a mandatory team camp in late July/early August and continuing with practices (starting in August) and weekly regular season games (Saturday mornings and the occasional Sunday - early September to mid-November). The spring season kicks off with practices in late February and regular season games end in late May. Teams will also attend pre and post-season tournaments.
2. How much travel is involved?
Since our objective is to accelerate our players’ development by providing them with the best competition available, we schedule games against clubs from all over metro Atlanta. Typically half of the games in a regular season are away and half are at home. We may also on occasion attend state and regional tournaments that may require an overnight hotel stay.
3. How much does it cost?
Fees are set at the end of each soccer year (May/June) to reflect our status as a not-for-profit organization that exists for the benefit of its members (our players and parents). In setting these fees, we are mindful of the fact that much of the administrative and marketing work at our club is done by individuals who donate their time and efforts free of charge. This ultimately allows us to set a fee structure that is highly competitive in the Atlanta soccer community but does not compromise the high quality of coaching we offer or our player-to-coach ratio. Please contact the club for more information.
4. How can I make sure that this is the right program for my child?
Try-Outs are offered on a ‘no-obligation’ basis. We would encourage you to attend our try-outs and to ask questions of our staff, so that you can walk away with as much information as you need to make what you think is the best decision for their child. We appreciate that different soccer players have different needs, and that the needs of the typical Recreational Program player are often different to those of the average Select player. It is our ultimate goal here at the club to provide your child with the most appropriate environment for him/her, whatever his/her level of interest and enthusiasm. |
